Privacy Policy
The Way Digital ("we," "us," or "our") is a web design and marketing studio based in Knoxville, Tennessee. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit thewaydma.com, how we use it, and the choices you have. If anything here is unclear, email us at jeff@thewaydma.com.
Information We Collect
Information you give us. When you fill out a form, email us, call us, or book a call, we collect what you choose to share — typically your name, business name, trade, email address, phone number, and the details of your message or project.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, we automatically receive some technical information when you visit, including your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, the site or search that referred you, and the dates and times of your visits. This comes from our analytics and from standard web-server logs.
Call-tracking information. To understand which pages lead to phone calls, we display phone numbers that may be provided through a call-tracking service. When you call one of these numbers, we may record call metadata such as the number dialed, the time and duration of the call, and the page you were viewing before you called. This helps us measure how well the site is working; it is not used to build a profile of you.
Lead attribution. We record which page of our site you arrived on or came from when you contact us, so we can tell which content actually helps people reach us. This travels with your form or call, not with your identity.
Cookies and Similar Technologies
We use cookies and similar browser storage (such as sessionStorage) for two purposes: to run our analytics, and to remember which page you first landed on so a later inquiry is attributed correctly. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; some parts of the site may work differently if you do. Because there is no consistent industry standard, we do not currently respond to browser "Do Not Track" signals.
How We Use Your Information
- To respond to your inquiries and provide the services you ask about.
- To communicate with you about a project, quote, or booking.
- To measure and improve how our website and marketing perform.
- To understand which pages and channels bring in leads.
- To keep the site secure and to meet legal or accounting obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for others' advertising.
Third-Party Services We Rely On
We use a small set of reputable providers to run the site and our business. Each processes data under its own privacy policy:
- Netlify — website hosting and form handling.
- Google Analytics — website usage analytics (see Google's Privacy Policy).
- Twilio — the call-tracking phone numbers described above.
- Calendly — scheduling, if you book a call through the site.
We share your information with these providers only as needed to operate the site and respond to you, and otherwise only when required by law.
How Long We Keep It
We keep the information you send us for as long as we need it to respond to you and, where relevant, to manage an ongoing or past working relationship — after which we delete it or keep only what the law requires. Analytics data is retained according to our analytics provider's standard settings.
Your Choices and Rights
You can ask us to see the personal information we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. Just email jeff@thewaydma.com and we'll take care of it.
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect and to request its deletion, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not sell personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of on that front. If you are in a region covered by the GDPR or similar laws, you also have rights to access, correct, delete, and restrict the processing of your data. Contact us at the email above and we will respond.
Data Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your information and work with providers who do the same. That said, no method of transmitting or storing data online is completely secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.
Children
Our site and services are meant for business owners, not children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we'll delete it.
Links to Other Sites
Our site may link to other websites, including our clients' sites and third-party tools. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites; please review their own policies.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll change the "Last updated" date at the top. Significant changes will be posted here on this page.
